Regional Training Program Announced

The Middlesex County Retirement Board is pleased to announce it is hosting a regional training program, Understanding Your Public Pension and Social Security, at the Buck Auditorium in Billerica Town Hall on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m..  This is the second of six regional training programs that are planned this year.  This free, two-hour regional meeting will provide MCRS members employed in the towns of Billerica, North Reading, Tewksbury and Wilmington with important information regarding your public employee retirement benefits and the basics of Social Security.  We hope you can join us at this program or one of our future programs.

Regional Training Program Announced

The Middlesex County Retirement Board is pleased to announce it is hosting a regional training program, Understanding Your Public Pension and Social Security, at the Bedford Town Hall Multi-Purpose Room in Bedford on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m..  This is the first of six regional training programs that are planned this year.  This free, two-hour regional meeting will provide MCRS members employed in the towns of Bedford, Burlington, Carlisle, Lincoln, and Weston with important information regarding your public employee retirement benefits and the basics of Social Security.

COLA

The Middlesex County Retirement Board voted unanimously on March 21st to grant retirees the maximum allowable Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). The maximum COLA allowed by law for retirees of the Middlesex County Retirement System is 3% of the first $14,000 of retirement benefits, or $420.00.  This increase will take effect on July 1.

Benefit Verification Affidavits Mailed

On February 28, 2018, members and beneficiaries who receive a pension, retirement allowance, or survivor’s allowance from the Middlesex County Retirement System were mailed a Benefit Verification Affidavit.    If you are a benefit recipient, you must complete, sign and return the Affidavit certifying your eligibility to continue receiving benefits.  Affidavits must be returned to our office by April 13, 2018 to avoid an interruption in benefit payments.

Fire Lt. John Brown Re-Elected to Board

On January 17, 2018,  retired Wilmington Fire Lt. John Brown was sworn in as the Fourth Elected Member of the Middlesex County Retirement Board. PERAC Executive Director Joseph Connarton administered the oath of office.  See our Newsflash for more details.
